BEHIND THE SCENES

Piano Concert 61 Metres Underground at Bendigo Gold Mine for 175th Anniversary

A few highlights from a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience!

In a world-first, internationally acclaimed pianists Ian Munro and Yasmin Rowe performed a spectacular concert 61 metres underground at Bendigo’s own Central Deborah Gold Mine.

Celebrating 175 years since the discovery of gold transformed Australia forever, this extraordinary performance brought the grandeur of Romantic-era piano music to the depths of the goldfields, with works composed between 1851 and 1900 - the very decades when Bendigo was the centre of the world’s richest goldfield.

A remarkable celebration of music, history and Bendigo’s golden heritage!
