Hiring the People’s Piano
-
The People’s Piano is a Yamaha C7X grand piano purchased through community fundraising. Its home is St Paul’s Cathedral in Bendigo.
Made possible by the generosity of the Bendigo community, it gives local and visiting musicians access to a quality instrument and creates more opportunities for people to enjoy live music.
-
We welcome hire enquiries from musicians, ensembles and organisations. Complete our piano hire enquiry form with details of your proposed event, preferred date and requirements, including any rehearsal or setup time.
Hire is subject to availability and the hire terms and conditions. Submitting an enquiry does not confirm a booking.
-
The piano hire fee is $150. This is the fee for the piano itself. Any venue hire, transport and tuning charges will be clarified before your booking is confirmed.
-
Yes, subject to both the piano and the Cathedral being available.
Select “At St Paul’s Cathedral” on the piano hire enquiry form and tell us whether you have already arranged your venue booking. The form includes the Cathedral’s contact details so you can enquire directly about venue availability and hire.
-
No. Piano hire and Cathedral venue hire are separate arrangements.
Venue enquiries and bookings must be made directly with St Paul’s Cathedral through [contact name, email and phone]. Please include the time you need for rehearsals, setup and the performance when discussing your venue booking.
Booking the Cathedral does not automatically reserve the piano, and requesting the piano does not reserve the Cathedral.
-
You will still need to request hire of the People’s Piano. Complete the piano hire enquiry form, indicate that your Cathedral booking is confirmed and include the name the venue booking is under.
-
You can request to use the piano at another venue. Select “At another venue” on the enquiry form and provide the venue address, access information and proposed delivery and collection dates.
Any move is subject to approval and the hire terms and conditions. Please do not arrange transport before your request has been approved.
-
Any approved move must be undertaken by the authorised piano mover, Making Melody Music, with Joshua McPherson. Hirers must not arrange transport with another provider.
If the piano is moved to another venue, it must be tuned by Nic Hamilton. Transport and tuning arrangements will be confirmed as part of the hire process.
-
The full terms and conditions are available through the piano hire enquiry form. You will need to read and accept them before your booking is confirmed.
-
After you submit your enquiry, you will be contacted about availability, any further information needed and the next steps.
Your booking is only confirmed once the required hire arrangements have been completed and you have received written confirmation. Please wait for confirmation of both the piano and your venue before promoting your event.
